A Fashion Buyer is responsible for purchasing apparel for the store based on his/her understanding of what is in vogue in the fashion scene and who the customers are. He/she should be able to:
- anticipate fashion trends
- meet and socialise with many people in the rag trade
- travel to different countries to source for fashion items
To be a Fashion Buyer, you must have:
(1) Diploma Fashion Design [LASALLE – SIA College of the Arts]
(2) two to three years of experience on the sales floor to gain an understanding of market trends.

Monthly income: $1,300 - $1,500
Frequent travelling, staff discounts from apparel company that he/she is working for International Exposure.
Major fashion apparel companies, e.g. Wing Tai, Esprit, FJ Benjamin, Gap International, International Buying Houses.
International exposures, co-ordination of seasons wardrobe, global mass production, quality control for garments.
