A Personnel/Human Resource Manager is responsible for acquiring the best employees available, recruiting them and matching them to the jobs they perform best in. He/She plans for the development of employees' skills and careers within the organisation. He/She is also involved in the creating of programmes to motivate employees to high levels of performance. He/She also ensures that employees remain committed to the organisation by ensuring conducive working conditions, attractive benefits and services for the employees. Ultimately, a Human Resource Professional is responsible for improving the productive capacity of employees within the organisation thereby achieving success and effectiveness for the organisation.

Increasingly, as more firms move outside their borders into the dynamic world of international business, human capital management is taking some of the flavours of international human capital management. It now deals with a more diversified workforce in terms of nationalities, races and cultures. The globalisation forces managers to grapple with complex issues to gain or sustain competitive advantage.

To operate successfully in an internationally competitive environment, the HR professional must possess the relevant knowledge and work experience in international taxation, international relocation and orientation, administrative services for expatriates, host government relations, and language translation services, etc.


To be a Personnel/Human Resource/Human Capital Professional, you will need one or more of the following:

1. A Master of Human Resource Management awarded by Curtin University of Technology
2. A Bachelor of Commerce (HRM & Industrial Relations) awarded by Curtin University of Technology
3. A Bachelor of Commerce (HRM & Management) awarded by Curtin University of Technology
4. A Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management awarded by SHRI
5. A Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Development awarded by SHRI
6. *A Diploma in Business & Human Resource Management awarded by SHRI
7. *A Professional Diploma in Compensation & Benefits awarded by SHRI
8. *A Professional Diploma in People Management awarded by SHRI
9. *A Diploma in Business and Human Resource Development awarded by SHRI

*With three to five years’ relevant working experience and other equivalent qualifications in HRM that are recognised.

Generally, if you are a HR professional and have 5 to 7 years' working experience, you can earn about $4,000 to $6,000 per month.
