A Fashion Stylist works for a modelling agency or a production company. He/she can also freelance his/her skills to fashion stores, retailers, shopping centres, magazines or advertising agencies. In this line, he/she is required to:
- prepare fashion catalogues, a model’s portfolio, advertisements and other publicity material to promote clothes and accessories
- supervise photo sessions or fashion shows
- select the required talent – models, photographers, make-up artists, hair dressers – and the right garments, accessories and shoes
- plan the setting, stage, sound and lights
- organise fittings, oversee rehearsals to ensure that the models are practising the correct walk-and-dance steps
To be a Fashion Stylist, you must have a:

- a good eye for styles and trends
- possess colour sense, creativity and artistic flair
- competent at putting up glamorous shows
- ability to convey ideas to others
- patient and persuasive as you often work with artistic people who may be temperamental
- good at handling stress arising often from last-minute demands
Monthly income: $1,200 - $1,500
Advance exposure in fashion/lifestyle trend forecasting.
