A Fashion Designer creates new types and styles of fashion for clothing and fashion accessories. He/She is responsible for creating new designs right up to the production of the sample garment. Hence, he/she must understand the practical side of clothing production. This practical knowledge allows him/her to work closely with others in their design function and to help in the actual production process when necessary.
To be a Fashion Designer, you need a:
(1) Diploma in Apparel Design & Merchandising [Temasek Polytechnic]
OR
(2) Diploma in Design (Fashion Design) [LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts]
OR
(3) Diploma in Fashion Design [Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts]
OR
(4) Diploma in Fashion Design [ LaSalle International Fashion School (S) Pte Ltd]
Other equivalent diplomas from recognised institutions are also acceptable.

To apply for admission to the 3-year diploma course in Apparel Design & Merchandising, for 'O' level holders, you must have:
(1) Grade 1-6 in English Language (EL1)
(2) Grade 1-6 in Mathematics (Elementary/Additional)
(3) Grade 1-6 in any *3rd or 4th subject
(4) Grade 1-7 in any 5th subject

To apply for admission to the 3-year diploma course in Design (Fashion Design), you must have at least 5 GCE 'O' level passes (4 credits and D7 English) or its equivalent.

To apply for admission to the 3-year diploma course in Fashion Design, you must:
(1) have at least 5 GCE 'O' level credits including English (or TOEFL Score of 500) or its equivalent.

To apply for admission to the 2-year diploma course in Fashion Design, you must have 3 GCE 'O' level credits
or equivalent, one of which must be English, or work experience judged by the School.
