A Landscape Architect is involved in site-planning and designing of projects ranging from private gardens to large industrial and commercial developments and public works in urban and rural settings. He/she is concerned with the conservation of natural and cultural landscapes, including historic parks and gardens, nature reserves, national parks and wilderness areas. A Landscape Architect is concerned with the greenery around these places. Thus, his/her aim is to please the eye of the public by beautifying these areas with flowers, shrubs, trees, etc. Hence, a Landscape Architect is concerned with improving the environment in which we work and live, and in fulfilling this, he/she would have to work closely with developers, architects, engineers, contractors and suppliers.
To be a Landscape Architect, you need a:
- Degree in Landscape Architecture [Not available locally]
Note: Graduates from the Bachelor of Arts (Architecture) Honours degree course can also practise as a Landscape Architect if they wish to pursue such specialisation.
